In the Art Room - Unity Crayons

I took this almost step for step from Mini Matisse, one of my new favorite art blogs!  First we looked at several examples of fine art pieces and discussed which we believed were unified and which were not.  Then we discussed what factors we would need to create independent pieces that when displayed together, would create one unified project.  The kids were more thoughtful with this project than I thought they would be.  I saw many discussions over the 3 class periods it took to finish this project on how to create a flow from one piece to the next.  Thank you Mini Matisse!

  1. I remember seeing Mini Mattise's post on this and loved the scale. My 3rd graders had just finished smaller scale overlapping crayon pieces. I love your kids' results -- the pieces put together are really striking. Thanks for sharing!
