The first graders learned how to draw a simple tiger. We looked at how easy it would be to turn our tiger into a number of different animals just by changing small details. We added green and pink tissue paper to make our tigers look like they were hiding in the jungle!
These are beautiful. I love the tissue paper leaves. I'm going to try this one next year. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the expression in the faces.
ReplyDeleteI can see using this with triangles- I see lots of repeated triangles in these pieces, and students could grasp how shapes can become an object.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog- Hope you take a minute to view mine- I teach online classes for art teachers you might be interested in, too!

ReplyDeleteI want to plan a special TIGER art project for my first graders.
Can you tell me a bit more about the dimensions or paper size you used?
Happy to be your newest follower!

Sure! I used 12x 18 white paper, tons of cut up scraps of tissue paper and orange paint. I think we finished these in two class periods if I remember correctly!!
DeleteThis art activity will go great with the book "Leo the Late Bloomer" by Robert Kraus. I love using literature to inspire art and this is the perfect combination!
