In the Art Room - Tigers

The first graders learned how to draw a simple tiger.  We looked at how easy it would be to turn our tiger into a number of different animals just by changing small details.  We added green and pink tissue paper to make our tigers look like they were hiding in the jungle!

  2. I can see using this with triangles- I see lots of repeated triangles in these pieces, and students could grasp how shapes can become an object.
Just found your blog- Hope you take a minute to view mine- I teach online classes for art teachers you might be interested in, too!

  6. I just found these Tigers through a Google search and LOVE them!
I want to plan a special TIGER art project for my first graders.
Can you tell me a bit more about the dimensions or paper size you used?
Happy to be your newest follower!

    1. Sure! I used 12x 18 white paper, tons of cut up scraps of tissue paper and orange paint. I think we finished these in two class periods if I remember correctly!!

    2. This art activity will go great with the book "Leo the Late Bloomer" by Robert Kraus. I love using literature to inspire art and this is the perfect combination!
