In the Art Room - Frank Stella
I really loved doing this project! My sixth graders looked at Frank Stella's protractor series and created a piece of their own. The only requirement was to color according to a color theory that they could explain - analogous, complimentary, cool, warm etc.
In the Art Room - Runaway Turkeys
Here's my kinder turkey project! Simple shapes and some directional lines and we have a runaway turkey!

In the Art Room - A Little Line Design
This was a quick review of line for my fourth grades. I used the below image (found via Pinterest) for inspiration, and then we went EVERY type of line we could think of before we started drawing. This was an easy, stress free project that we finished in one period.

In the Art Room - Scratch Art
I do this every year with the 8th grade. It's SUPER difficult every year! The end results are always so worth the work though!
In the Art Room - Hot Air Balloons
This lesson was inspired by one from another blog. If you recognize, please let me know and I'll give credit!! It was a pattern review for 2nd grade and it's also the piece I will use for this year's art fair.
In the Art Room - Abstract Bicycles
The 4th grades sketched out bikes then chose one word to describe them. The following week they got their sketches back along with a set of liquid watercolors. They had to paint an abstract background that reflected their word. These are lovely!
In the Art Room - Animal Faces
I needed something QUICK last week for the 5th grades, so we learned how to draw BIG animal faces and then I gave them a small selection of watercolor paints to complete.

In the Art Room - Guitars
This was my tint and shade project for the fourth grades. They all loved learning how to draw a guitar and the painting part was pretty fun too!
