In the Art Room - Kinder Bunnies

Here's the last of my painted bunny projects.  These are from the Kindergartners.  We used all sorts of ovals to make these bunnies.  We also mixed red and white to make pink and tried to create a fur texture by blotting our brushes on the paper rather than using strokes.  They are very cute!



In the Art Room - Easter Crosses

I was bunnied out by the time I had second grade last week so we drew Easter crosses instead.  We reviewd the symbolism behind the cross, the lilies, and the purple fabric draped over the cross before drawing.  I let them use any colors they wanted and they are beautiful



In the Art Room- Wire Form Figures

The 8th graders overcame the multiple cuts sustained while creating these figures and ending up doing a great job!  They really enjoyed making the little accessories out of Model Magic.  The pictures aren't the best, but these little sculptures have gotten a lot of attention at my school!

   

  

In the Art Room - Realistic Rabbits

While the first grades made their adorable bunnies hiding in the grass, the third grades worked on drawing realistic rabbits.  We did a quick drawing lesson on how to draw a rabbit sitting and how to draw a rabbit hopping, then they could choose what they liked best for their final piece.  They worked with oil pastel and easily finished in 40 minutes!



In the Art Room - Hiding Bunnies

These bunnies hiding in the grass by the first graders are adorable!  We painted the bunnies and colored the details with construction paper crayons. The kids loved making that one floppy ear!  Great geometric and organic shape lesson!

 

 

     



In the Art Room - Zentangles

I've been seeing a lot of Zentangles on the web lately.  I've even seen them transformed into art lessons on Artsonia and I think this could turn into a really fun free art activity for the kids. 

The definition from zentangle.com is as follows:

In the Art Room - Shoes

Every year I do this project with the 6th grades.  The end result will be a shaded shoe, but their initial sketches were so good, I thought I would go ahead and share them.

This is a long project.  We begin with drawing a sneaker together.  We go over the simple lines that make up the shoe and then build from there.  Next, they each take off the shoe they are wearing and try to draw it. The biggest challenge is to draw what they see and not to draw what they think it should look like.  My students wear uniforms, so as a special treat, they are allowed to wear whatever shoes they want for the final day of the project.  They MUST draw that shoe though!
