In the Art Room - First three weeks for the Kinders

This has been a crazy busy start to the school year!  I always start my kinders with an introduction to color.  The first week we do Primary and Secondary colors.  The second week we do warm and cool.  The third week we do neutral. (The snail and the owl are from my kids, but the clown is an example from Artsonia.  I gave all my clowns back without getting pictures first!)

Summer Break

I obviously have not been posting during my summer break.  We've been to the beach, to the lake, to Wicked and next up is Lego Land and Disneyland!!!!  I'll pick up posting again in August.  I completely rearranged and reorganized my room before summer break and I look forward to sharing it with you.  I also have pictures of my student art display from our local post office.  I have lots of great ideas for new projects and I'll be on the look out for any tips concerning teaching your own kids, as my son will be a kindergartner at my school next year!!!

I needed something cool and easy for the 4th graders to work on for their last two art projects.  I saw this on Mr. E and it was perfect!



In the Art Room - Koi Pond

For my last 3rd grade project, I did a review on monochromatic color. Since this was a color lesson and not  a drawing lesson, I gave the kids koi fish tracers that I made years ago for another project, and had them trace one large fish and parts of three other fish around their paper.  They had to use at least two different monochromatic combinations for their fish.  They loved the finished product!



In the Art Room - Frogs

Here's my last directed drawing with the Kindergartners.  I started them all off with an oval already drawn on the page.  They followed my oral directions to add the rest!
